Although Apple has yet to enter the collapsible device market, it is proactively checking out the technology behind the scenes. According to a new investor note gotten by 9to5Mac, Haitong International analyst Jeff Pu has provided additional information on Apple’s strategies. Pu reveals that Apple’s 7.9-inch collapsible tool, expected for release in 2026, will include a “wraparound foldable style.”
Last month, Pu first laid out Apple’s collapsible timeline, suggesting that the company aims to release a 20.3-inch foldable crossbreed tool in 2025, followed by a collapsible apple iphone in 2026. Previously, Ming-Chi Kuo reported that Apple was working with a 20.3-inch foldable MacBook, and Ross Young kept in mind Apple’s development of a 20-inch collapsible crossbreed tool anticipated to debut in either 2026 or 2027.
In today’s financier note, Pu defines Apple’s 7.9-inch collapsible apple iphone as having a “wraparound foldable design” that is “comparable” to the Huawei Friend Xs 2, envisioned below.
At the same time, Pu recommends that Apple’s 20.3-inch foldable MacBook could be comparable to Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Layer, a 16.3-inch touchscreen collapsible laptop, as seen in the video clip below.
In this investor note, Pu does not give any type of extra information on Apple’s collapsible tools. He restates that the 7.9-inch foldable iPhone is scheduled for launch in late 2026, while the 20.3-inch foldable MacBook is anticipated to start mass production by the end of 2025.
