The iPhone 16 is a highly appealing option, even for those who typically go for the Pro phones. A significant portion of the advanced technologies from the iPhone 16 Pro are also making their way to the base iPhone 16. Features such as Camera Control, a nearly equivalent A18 chip, and Apple Intelligence support are some of its highlights. However, the Pro line still has its distinct advantages. Here are the top three reasons why you should choose the iPhone 16 Pro over the iPhone 16.
Reason 1: Extended Battery Life
One of the top desires that most of us can likely agree on is for more battery life. And Apple is delivering this year. The entire iPhone 16 lineup offers improved battery performance compared to its predecessors. But the enhancements are particularly remarkable on the Pro models. Apple uses various metrics when measuring battery life, and two of the main ones are video playback and audio playback. Here are the battery life figures for the smaller two iPhones:
– iPhone 16 Pro: 27 hours of video playback and 85 hours of audio playback.
– iPhone 16: 22 hours of video playback and 80 hours of audio playback.
The Pro model clearly has an advantage, and the same holds true for the larger iPhones as well.
What kind of battery life can you expect in daily use? It’s difficult to put an exact number on it. One thing is certain, though – the iPhone 16 Pro models outperform their non-Pro siblings in every aspect.
Reason 2: Bigger and Better Displays
Although some users still long for the days of the petite iPhone mini, sales data shows that the vast majority of us prefer larger iPhones. Good news! The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max feature even larger displays than ever before. If you’re interested in a larger iPhone display without the phone itself becoming too bulky, the 16 Pro models may be hard to resist.
– iPhone 16 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, an upgrade from the iPhone 16’s 6.1-inch.
– iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch display, up from the iPhone 16 Plus’ 6.7-inch.
Not only do the Pro models have bigger displays, but they are also of higher quality. As has been the case for years now, ProMotion is exclusive to the Pro line. So if you want that 120Hz refresh rate, you’ll need an iPhone 16 Pro. The same is true for the always-on functionality.
Reason 3: Camera Advantages
The iPhone 16 Pro line also has a superior camera system compared to the non-Pro models. Here are some of the key differences:
– Both Pro models have a telephoto lens with up to 5x optical zoom; the non-Pros lack this third camera altogether.
– The Pro models have a significantly upgraded Ultra Wide camera, now at 48MP instead of the 12MP on the non-Pros, which will result in better macro shots that I’m excited about.
– Slo-mo video at 4K up to 120 fps is only available on the Pro models.
– Apple’s’studio-quality’ four-mic array is also exclusive to the Pro line.
– The Pro line also continues to carry over its camera advantages from previous years, such as better image stabilization, Adaptive True Tone flash, Night mode portraits, ProRAW, ProRes video, and more.
If you want the most powerful and versatile camera system on your iPhone, the 16 Pro and Pro Max are the ones to go for.
During Apple’s presentation, the company made a strong case for the iPhone 16. When the video started focusing on the iPhone 16 Pro, I found myself thinking that maybe it wasn’t the phone for me. I don’t need to engage in professional video creation, which was a major focus in Apple’s pitch. But looking at the specs, it’s hard to argue against better battery life, larger displays, and a more powerful camera system.
